What is your idea and purpose?
I want to create more jobs and provide a safe space for women through a food catering concept, which will be based on food from the middle east. I want to help vulnerable women that have fled because of terrible circumstances. My purpose is to help those women to get a job and hopefully make them more independent and help to integrate them into Danish society. I’m an English teacher from Syria and have been in Denmark for eight years. I came to Denmark because of the war in Syria. So, I know how crucial it is to have a mentor that can motivate and guide you. And that is what I want to be for those women by providing them jobs and a community to join at my restaurant. I hope I eventually can develop the concept to include other services as well.

What has inspired you to start?
I was an intern at Crossing Borders a non-profit organization and during my period I really got inspired to help people and to find my own way of doing it by connecting and empowering women to be part of our society. Through the ØreXund course, I was told that there was a big project in Malmö called Yalla Trappin, and I got the opportunity to meet with them. They really showed me that my idea of combining my love for making food and helping women could be possible. And of course, my own personal experience has also inspired me to find a solution that can be helpful to others.

How has ØreXund Excubator helped you?
ØreXund Excubator has helped me to be more structured and systematic because I had a lot of ideas in my head, and I think the course gave me the confidence to just jump out as an entrepreneur. I do not have a fully developed concept yet, so for me, I participated very early in my entrepreneurial journey. But I see that as a good thing because I have learned so much and developed my concept throughout the course. The course put me on the right track and helped me to believe in myself. For me, it was also valuable that I had my own mentor during the course that could give me feedback, inspiration and guide me. And of course, it was nice to meet a lot of new different entrepreneurs as well as we could spare with one another, and I could expand my network.
